In a lot of ways, Miakka Golf Club feels like a throwback to a different era in Florida.

Its developers are passionate about preserving the Old Florida feel of the land, an 1,100-acre former Cracker cattle ranch home to hundreds of oak hammock trees. It's surrounded by over 100 luxury estates, and its developers expect the golf course to drive interest in the homes. The development of golf course-anchored residential communities in Florida boomed between the mid-80s and early aughts, but the developers of Miakka Golf Club say the Sarasota area is overdue for such a property.
