Manatee County denies $80M Lakewood Ranch ice rink, indoor sports complex

Manatee County is not moving forward with plans to build an $80 million indoor sports complex with an ice rink in Lakewood Ranch.

Commissioners unanimously voted to deny the project, called Project Grace, and end negotiations with the developer, Wesley Chapel-based Icemann Development, on Tuesday morning. The county had previously planned to lease 22 acres at the Premier Sports Campus North to Icemann to build and operate the 250,000-square-foot indoor sportsplex.
