$31M sale clears way for Polk County farmland to become housing

A Polk County real estate firm purchased 300 acres of farmland to make way for nearly 750 homes in Lakeland.

An entity linked to Lakeland-based Diversified Real Estate Partners on May 13 paid $31.1 million for 300 acres of vacant agricultural land to the west of the intersection of Crews Lake Drive and Yarborough Lane, according to a deed filed with the county. The firm plans to develop 747 single-family homes on the land, according to a site plan filed with the county.
