Restaurateurs behind Boulon Brasserie plan Mexican steakhouse in downtown Tampa

The hospitality company behind some of Tampa’s most popular restaurants is planning a Mexican steakhouse near the Tampa Riverwalk.

Matilde, named for Next Level Brands co-founder Andrew Wright’s maternal grandmother, will occupy 7,600 square feet in the Arts and Entertainment Residences in downtown Tampa, overlooking the Riverwalk and Hillsborough River. Next Level Brands founder Jeff Gigante said the restaurant’s construction costs will likely be “north of $5 million.” It is slated to open in early 2027.
