Historic Gas Plant bids promise transformation, but questions still loom

Development teams presented four visions for the Historic Gas Plant site at St. Petersburg’s April 30 open house. After years of resets, there were four different answers to the same question: Why has nothing happened here?

Blake Investment Partners’ Burg Bid team offered the most complete, yet familiar answer. It presented a deep bench of proven partners, including The Related Group, and a full buildout narrative centered on scale: housing, jobs and billions in projected economic impact. In the Q&A, the team reinforced that credibility with a relatively contained public ask tied largely to existing infrastructure funding, not a fresh subsidy.
