DADE CITY - The County Commission will consider a proposal Tuesday to buy 116 acres of conservation land on the east side of Strauber Memorial Highway, across from Eagle Point Park in New Port Richey. The property, owned by Pasco Palms of Gainesville, contains a mix of forested wetlands, mangroves, tidal flats and hardwood forest, and is a significant feeding ground for wading and migratory birds, according to a county memo. The $700,000 purchase price would be covered by revenue from the Penny for Pasco sales tax. The commission meeting starts at 10 a.m. at the historic courthouse, 37918 Meridian Ave. in Dade City.
