BayCare acquires beloved Clearwater Irish pub after apartment plans fell through

A major healthcare system bought a beloved Clearwater Irish pub that was once slated to become apartments.

BayCare Health System acquired O’Keefe’s Tavern in downtown Clearwater on Monday for $4 million, according to a Pinellas County deed. O’Keefe’s has operated at 1219 S Fort Harrison Ave. since 1961, but since last year, the property has become an attractive development site, previously seeing apartment plans and now a healthcare future.
