Selby Gardens completes $42M bond sale, nears fundraising goal for phase two

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is entering the next phase of an expansion project that will include a conservatory and thousands of plants at its downtown Sarasota campus.

This is phase two of a three-phase project, and it will include a conservatory complex, a learning pavilion and gardens and landscaping. The state-of-the-art, hurricane-resilient conservatory complex will showcase over 20,000 plants from Selby Gardens’ living research collections, according to a release. Selby Gardens announced Tuesday that it completed a $41.9 million tax-exempt bond sale in July, started vertical construction and raised $59.7 million, which is 98% of its $60.9 million fundraising goal for phase two.
