Tampa real estate firm faces foreclosure on Clearwater apartment complex

A Tampa real estate firm faces the foreclosure of an apartment complex it owns in Clearwater.

Lender SPT Real Estate Capital LLC filed a complaint Monday to foreclose on the 372-unit Genesis Clearwater apartments after the property’s owner failed to make three monthly payments and repay a $63.3 million loan when it matured in June. The lender says Genesis Apartments LLC, which is affiliated with Tampa-based TLR Group, owed $64.1 million as of Aug. 3.
