Publix appears to be planning to redevelop a popular St. Pete store

Publix Super Markets Inc. will build a bigger store next to an existing St. Petersburg location.

A new Publix will rise in the Gateway Market Center off Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N in the Gateway area of St. Pete as part of a larger redevelopment effort led by the shopping center owner InvenTrust Properties Inc. Plans submitted to the city of St. Pete show a vacant Bealls will be demolished and replaced with a Publix.
