Clearwater developer moves toward city negotiations for sports and wellness park

Clearwater could enter into negotiations with a local developer to transform a city-owned golf course into a large-scale sports and recreation campus.

Porter Development presented to Clearwater City Council at a work session Monday, explaining the environmental, tourism and economic benefits the redevelopment of The Landings at 1875 Airport Drive would bring to the city. City staff recommended council members proceed with the option to accept the unsolicited proposal and open a 30-day window for alternate bids. Council will continue discussions and hold a vote on whether to formally continue negotiations Thursday.
