Midtown Tampa's new office tower lands eight-figure loan

The developers of office tower Midtown East have taken out a loan secured by the portion of the building they own.

Bromley Cos. and Highwoods Properties, which developed the 18-story Midtown East in a joint venture, received a $55.7 million loan from Valley Bank. JLL Capital Markets, which arranged the loan on behalf of the developers, announced the transaction. Bromley and Highwoods own 143,354 square feet of office and retail space in the tower; the remainder was purchased by Tampa Electric Co., which occupies it along with Peoples Gas as its joint headquarters.
