Moffitt makes $12 million land buy for first Polk County outpost

Moffitt Cancer Center has paid $12 million for the Lakeland property where it intends to open its first Polk County outpost.

The Tampa-based health system closed on just over 34 acres along US Highway 98 in Lakeland on July 8, Polk County property records show. Moffitt previously announced that the new facility, which will offer outpatient treatment, would be supported in part by a $10 million donation from Wesley and Ashley Bell Barnett, along with a partial land donation from Steve, Dane and Tom Rogers and family.
