Blake Investment Partners' proposal selected for Tropicana Field site redevelopment

The third attempt in six years to find a developer to transform one of the most coveted pieces of dirt in the Southeastern United States is nearing its final chapter.

St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch selected The Burg Bid, the proposal from Blake Investment Partners led by St. Pete native Thompson Whitney Blake, to redevelop the 86-acre Historic Gas Plant site where Tropicana Field sits, according to sources close to the deal. The selection comes nearly six months after the city opened a proposal window, which solicited eight responses, four of which were shortlisted.
