$2.6 billion Fort Meade data center gets city approval

A hotly contested plan to bring a massive data center spanning 1,300 acres of land in Polk County is moving forward after commissioners unanimously approved a development agreement.

On Tuesday, Fort Meade city commissioners approved a 20-year development agreement with Maryland-based developer Stonebridge. The agreement addresses infrastructure obligations related to the project, which included road, sewer and water, Doug Firstenberg, principal at Stonebridge, told the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
