Clearwater's new two-story Target could spark more retail development

In a Clearwater retail market where vacancy is scarce, Target’s move into the former Sears at Countryside Mall could be a catalyst for new development.

Clearwater’s retail market is tight, as well-located retail centers are often fully leased, leaving little room in the state’s most densely populated county for vacant space. When a two-story Target fills 140,000 square feet of the former Sears department store, developers may jump on the opportunity to build more retail space, market observers say.
