Hundreds of foreclosed homes in Florida will be auctioned off in the coming weeks, offering a chance for real estate bargains on properties across the state, including nearly 100 units near the Tampa Bay area.

The Tampa auction will be held on Aug. 13, with Miami/Ft. Lauderdale auctions on Aug. 16 and Orlando homes hitting the auction block on Aug. 17.

The firm running the sale, Hudson & Marshal, is promoting the statewide event as a chance for investors or first-time buyers to find property deals they wouldn't normally be able to swing.

"Years ago, people used to think of foreclosures as strictly distressed property in need of repairs but that's not really the case anymore," said firm representative Dave Webb.
