Hurricane-wrecked hotel on Tampa's Rocky Point to be redeveloped

A Rocky Point hotel that's been shuttered since Hurricane Helene battered Tampa Bay in 2024 could be redeveloped into mixed-use towers with nearly 500 residential units.

Equicor, an Indianapolis-based developer, is seeking rezoning approval to transform the Godfrey Hotel and Cabanas' 6.6 acres on the Courtney Campbell Causeway into 215 hotel keys, 489 multifamily units and related amenities in two 14-story towers, plans filed with the city show. That's the same number of hotel keys the Godfrey had, but there were no residential units on the property previously. There will also be a parking garage with over 1,100 spaces.
