St. Petersburg approves another $5 million for Trop repairs

More city money is officially behind the push to repair Tropicana Field in time for the Tampa Bay Rays’ opening day in 2026.

St. Petersburg City Council unanimously approved $5 million more for Tropicana Field repairs on Thursday, bringing the total approved to date to $38.5 million. The total cost of the repairs is projected to be about $56 million, a city official said. A report submitted to the city about a month after Hurricane Milton’s winds ripped the roof off the domed baseball stadium put the price at $55 million.
