Downtown St. Pete office tower wrecked by crane could be knocked down

The owners of the downtown St. Petersburg office tower wrecked by a falling construction crane during Hurricane Milton want to demolish the building.

The owners of 490 First Ave. S have told the city they’d like to demolish the building in “early, informal conversations,” St. Pete spokesperson Samantha Bequer said. Pinellas County property records list the owner as a corporation registered to Atlanta-based real estate investor Robert Mason.
