Construction is set to begin in August on a 106-room Staybridge Suites hotel at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport.

Sarasota-based American Hotel Development Partners will spend $13.2-million to build the extended-stay hotel, scheduled to open in late 2009.

The company is developing 12 hotels, including a 115-room, full-service Holiday Inn at Alafia Crossing in south Hillsborough County.

The Staybridge Suites was originally scheduled to be completed this year. It will be the second hotel on airport property.
