RETURN TO NEWS INDEX CAN Community Health to move headquarters to Ybor The nonprofit announced the move will be complete by fall 2024. The new headquarters will be in the German American Club historic building in Ybor alongside its established medical clinic and will house the executives, senior and mid-level management.
Since late 2021, CAN Community Health has had a vision to “unify its national headquarters alongside one of its established medical clinics,” according to a release. Senior Vice President Rogelio Capote told the Tampa Bay Business Journal the organization acquired the Ybor building at 2105 N Nebraska Ave. last Friday. A deed has not yet been filed for the sale.
President and CEO Dr. Rishi Patel said the company has provided “premier care through outreach, advocacy, education and research” since 1991.
“At CAN Community Health, excellent health care starts with a foundation of inclusion, compassion and respect regardless of race, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or the ability to pay,” Patel said in a release. “We are excited to make Tampa Bay our new home for our headquarters. It is a pivotal move for our organization and a game changer for all our patients.”
After moving the headquarters to Ybor, CAN Community Health will “continue to expand its roots in Sarasota,” according to the organization. It intends to house the Susan Terry Foundation within the Sarasota Medical Center off 12th Street and Tuttle Avenue.
Jackie Rogers, board chairwoman, said Tampa Bay offers a place where team members easily travel in and out of all the organization’s current markets while providing “an unparalleled, diverse, inclusive quality of life and favorable cost of living.”
CAN Community Health has clinics in Florida, Arizona, New Jersey, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia. It is one of the Tampa Bay area’s largest nonprofit organizations, according to Business Journal research. It has over 500 employees.
“We look forward to partnering with area specialty physicians to provide key services to our clients and the community,” Patel said. “We want our clients to experience a true medical home. Not to have to worry about traveling to various offices for appointments. Instead, patients can visit their doctors and specialists while they are on campus.” |
