Miami-based Tricera Capital has purchased a Snell Arcade commercial condominium for $1.88 million.

Tricera Capital — which has several assets in St. Petersburg — purchased the 8,582-square-foot space downtown from the nonprofit organization Volunteers of America. The deal closed on Dec. 15, according to a deed filed in Pinellas County.

Patrick and Chris Calhoon, commercial brokers with Smith & Associates Real Estate, worked with both the buyer and seller in the deal. The acquisition is an investment for Tricera to grow its firm in St. Petersburg, according to a release.

“We were excited to work with both parties and play a role in the growth of another company within the St. Petersburg community,” Patrick Calhoon said in the release.

The commercial condo is in the basement of the historic building and has been used for several years as offices for Volunteers of America. In the past, it was a restaurant and a retail site.

Snell Arcade was built in the late 1920s, and the condo still has many original art deco-era design features.
