The latest on construction projects across the Tampa Bay region

The Tampa Bay Business Journal recently updated its Crane Watch map, giving a visual representation of projects that have been proposed, are currently under construction or have been completed in the region.

Projects that have been in the works for years are nearing the finish line, while new projects continue to break ground early in the new year.

Mixed-use development continues to grow throughout the Tampa Bay area, with the multimillion-dollar Imagine Clearwater nearing a milestone in its redevelopment of Coachman Park. The waterfront project has an $84 million price tag for the downtown waterfront redevelopment.

Additionally, a hotel developer appears to be moving forward with a new project on the former Beachwalk Inn on Clearwater Beach site. The company plans to build a seven-story, 88-key hotel on the property.

Orlando Health is also planning to come to Tampa with a proposed 300-unit hospital in Wiregrass Ranch, a master-planned community in Wesley Chapel. The facility will offer emergency and specialty services as well as inpatient care.

Education-wise, the University of Tampa has proposed another student housing tower in the urban core — near Oxford Exchange. The units will range from one to four bedrooms, and the rezoning request to make way for the tower includes a waiver for 47% of the required parking spaces for a project of this size.
