The Salty Donut confirms Tampa stores in Hyde Park Village, Seminole Heights

The Salty Donut, a Miami doughnut shop with a cult following, has confirmed it will open in Tampa.

The developer of Hyde Park Village on Wednesday said The Salty Donut will open in the lifestyle center in 2023. The Business Journal reported that the doughnut shop was targeting 1519 W. Swann Ave., which was previously home to Elan Aesthetics, on July 11. Elan has expanded to 1503 W. Swann Ave.

The Salty will also open a commissary kitchen in Seminole Heights at 5805 N. Florida Ave. The concept was founded in 2015 as a pop-up by Amanda Pizarro-Rodriguez and her husband, Andy Rodriguez.

“Being Florida-founded and -based, Amanda and I have been traveling all over the state since we were little kids! As we made our way to expand throughout the state, we knew as soon as we went further north, we had to do Orlando and Tampa/St. Pete,” Andy Rodriguez, CEO of The Salty Donut, said in a statement. “After many, many trips visiting and eating/drinking our way through the market, the vision became pretty clear — we wanted to do a fun, very boho-chic, rustic ‘retail production works’ with tons of outdoor space for activations in Seminole Heights, and we knew we had to be in the bustling and polished Hyde Park Village.”

Each location is designed to reflect its neighborhood. In Seminole Heights, the company purchased "a beautiful, oak-lined property with a historic bungalow on it." The Hyde Park Village shop will have "an outdoor living room feel."

Storyn Studio for Architecture, based in St. Petersburg, has designed all of The Salty's stores and is also handling the Tampa locations.

"We clearly have a sweet tooth at Hyde Park Village, and we could not be more excited to welcome The Salty, knowing it will bring joy to visitors of every age while continuing to build upon our growing food offerings,” Nicole Dee, general manager of Hyde Park Village, said in a statement.
