The Salty Donut is coming to Tampa

The Salty Donut, a Miami-based chain that was once rated among the best doughnut shops in the U.S., is coming to Tampa.

The developer of Hyde Park Village confirmed that The Salty will sling doughnuts and coffee from the storefront at 1519 W. Swann Ave., previously home to Elan Aesthetics, which has expanded to 1503 W. Swann Ave.

A representative from the doughnut shop was not immediately available for comment Monday.

“We could not be more excited to welcome The Salty Donut to Hyde Park Village. This family-owned, small-batch donut shop is quite simply one of the best donut shops and coffee bars in the country. We know it will greatly elevate Hyde Park Village’s already stellar food offering,” Nicole Dee, general manager of Hyde Park Village, said in a statement.

The Salty filed plans with the city for locations in Hyde Park and Seminole Heights in June, but the plans filed for Seminole Heights have since been withdrawn, according to city records.

The Salty Donut launched out of a camper in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood. It now has locations in Texas — Austin and Dallas — as well as Charlotte, North Carolina. In Florida, it has locations in West Palm Beach and Orlando. The menu features traditional doughnuts with creative twists — like a brown butter and salt doughnut — as well as gluten-free and vegan options.
