TradeWinds on St. Pete Beach adds zip line, restaurant and more

TradeWinds Island Resorts has added 141 guest rooms to its portfolio and has expanded its amenities — including a zip line on the beach and a new restaurant.

The resorts are comprised of the Island Grand, 5500 Gulf Blvd., and RumFish Beach Resort, 6000 Gulf Blvd., and sit on a combined 40 acres along St. Pete Beach. According to TradeWinds, the 141 new rooms were originally part of the property formerly known as Alden Suites, which was acquired last March and incorporated into RumFish.

The rooms were renovated and include Gulf front and resort views; rooms have new furniture, flooring, kitchens, lighting, appliances and artwork. The expansion also added two pools, a covered spa area and a beachfront bar that guests at both TradeWinds properties can access.

A Mexican restaurant called Bermudas Beachside Cantina opened at the Island Grand, open Thursday through Monday for dinner.

A new Zing Ray Zip makes TradeWinds the first St. Pete resort to have a three-story, dual-line zip line on the beach. This summer, the resort is also adding a 10-person floating cabana complex with a table and ice cooler called Aqua-Bana. The former floating cabanas have also been replaced with king-sized versions. The “Floating Water Park” will include a new waterslide, catapult swing and monkey bars.

“TradeWinds provides such a unique vacation experience with the two neighboring sister properties directly on St. Pete Beach,” Bob LaCasse, managing director for TradeWinds Island Resorts, said in a release. “We’re always striving to improve and expand our product to keep it exciting, fresh and memorable for our new and returning guests, which is exactly what we’ve done with the addition of our gorgeous new rooms and the zip line on the beach.”

Both properties also now have water’s edge chair and umbrella services.

With the renovations of the new 141 rooms at RumFish, the two resorts now total 899 guest rooms.
