RETURN TO NEWS INDEX Tampa Bay Brewing Co. sets opening date for new facility The 17,400-square-foot brewery/restaurant, built from the ground up, is located on Racetrack Road in Oldsmar, a quarter mile north of Hillsborough Avenue.
"The major construction is done and we'll soon be installing equipment and start landscaping," said Mike Doble, who is overseeing the build-out. He's part of the family that owns and operates TBBC.
Mike Doble acted as designer/general contractor on the new building.
All told, project's price tag is $5.1 million, Doble said.
TBBC has expanded its canned beer business and, with sales growing, needs considerably more production capacity than it currently has inside it's flagship Ybor City brew pub. Thirteen thousand square feet of the facility has been earmarked for beer production.
Mike Doble, whose background is in engineering and building design, acted as in-house general contractor, working with Bandes Construction.
"I was living and working in Wisconsin at the time and my mother [Vicki] asked me, 'Do you want to build a new brewery for us?'" Mike Doble said.
The 4,700-square-foot brew pub stands well apart from the Bay area's craft beer hot zones, which tend to be in emerging urban neighborhoods.
"We see it as very much as a destination spot," Doble said. "It's also in a typically suburban area where people are used to driving. That's why we've added provisions like a large parking lot and valet parking. We also think that area is ready for some interesting, locally-based offerings." |
