Govindaraju buys Knights Point for $7.5M

No deal for Channelside? No problem. Investor Santosh Govindaraju has moved on and purchased Knights Point on Harbour Island for $7.5 million.

The 100,000-square-foot complex sits across the channel from Tampa General Hospital and is home to the restaurant and lounge Jackson's Bistro, the Tampa Bay Times said. The purchase includes 294 parking spaces.

Govindaraju gained attention in recent months for his attempts to purchase Channelside Bay Plaza in partnership with Punit Shah, who is an investor in the Knights Point purchase. Govindaraju said he plans to invest $10 million in the facility and hopes to attract more retail and food options. He also hopes to lease out 75 percent of the office space this year and expand the number of boat slips, the Times said.

"We really want to activate the marina," he said. "Our vision is … we want this to be the southern end of the boating community."
