Developer unveils live, work, shop proposal in Manatee

Developers are planning to build housing, retail and office space at Robinson Gateway in Manatee County.

The proposed development on 288 acres east of Interstate 75 near Parrish is set to include 542 residential units, a 1,750-seat movie theater, one or more hotels and 900,000-square-feet of retail space, the Bradenton Herald said.

The developer, MW Gateway Development LLC, hopes to hold public hearings on the project in the fall or winter. The project would be built out by 2025 with construction beginning in a couple of years, according to the Herald's reporting and documents filed with the Manatee County Commission. The proposal has already received approval from the regional planning council, but needs permission from the county commission to hold public hearings.

The land, the northern limit of which is 2.5 miles south of the Hillsborough County line, has been used as a tree farm and is owned by the Robinson family.

Hearings could be set for Nov. 13 and Dec. 4, the Herald said.
