Land once slated for T. Rowe Price campus to go back on the market

T. Rowe Price is seeking to sell a 90-acre site in Land O' Lakes. The land on State Road 54 had previously been envisioned as a regional campus for the finance company.

That all changed two months ago when T. Rowe Price abandoned that plan and chose to extend its lease at its Tampa headquarters in the West Shore district for six more years, the Tampa Tribune said.

Pasco County is now helping market the site. "What we have here is a pad-ready, incentivized office site at a prime location that's 20 minutes from the airport,” said Pasco County Administrator Michele Baker. "They are willing to sell to the right user. Obviously, they're not going to get the same price per acre from a residential developer that they would for offices.”

T. Rowe Price purchased the land in 2009 for $13.5 million and once planned to build a 450,000 square foot campus, the Tribune said. It was promised $30 million in subsidies and incentives to keep 400 jobs in the area and add as many as 1,200 in the area, the Tribune said. Much of the state-funded road improvement work connected to the plan is already under way.
