Sarasota-based Core Construction Florida said it has been selected to manage the estimated $120 million University Corners mixed-use project in Gainesville.

Swerdlow Group of Miami is developing the 1.3-million-square-foot project, which will include student housing, a hotel, retail and a parking garage. It will be developed in phases over several years.

"A project of over $100 million is significant to the town [Gainesville] and to us as a company,” Core Florida President John Wiseman said.

Core is currently building the $28.8 million Trio building at the Encore development in downtown Tampa.
