A new bid on the struggling Channelside Bay Plaza in downtown Tampa is being put together quietly by Raxit Shah at Liberty Group and others at Convergent Capital Partners.

Port officials said they know about the new bid, but were unwilling to speak publicly about it. People involved in the bid were unwilling to talk about the project publicly, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Liberty Group and Convergent most recently joined forces to buy the Mercantile Bank Building at Ashley Drive and Kennedy Boulevard in downtown Tampa to redevelop as a Starwood boutique hotel called Aloft.

No financial terms to the deal have been released, according to the Tribune.
