INDIAN ROCKS BEACH - Property along Gulf Boulevard at Seventh Avenue that was once home to an RV park is slated be the site of a new waterfront development of 50 high-end townhomes.

Taylor Morrison Homes, the biggest privately owned home builder in the country, is awaiting its second public hearing Tuesday for the proposed gated community.

The townhomes will be three stories with a garage on the first floor and two levels above that, said Danny Taylor, director of planning and zoning for Indian Rocks Beach. The 2,000-square-foot homes will have three bedrooms and three bathrooms, he added.

Katy Walker, marketing manager for Taylor Morrison, wouldn't comment on the price range of the homes or the name of the project.

She said it will have a swimming pool, cabana area and community dock.

Renderings submitted to the city show eight buildings with six to seven attached homes in each. Three buildings are directly on the Intracoastal Waterway.

At the first public hearing, residents who live between and behind the proposed buildings expressed concerns about access through the private community, Taylor said. A representative from Taylor Morrison assured them that the developer would allow access, he added.

Arizona-based Taylor Morrison is starting its own mini building boom in Tampa Bay.

The company is also planning 158 two-story townhomes in St. Petersburg next to Loggerhead Marina, formerly Huber Yacht Harbor, in the Pinellas Point area.

Model homes for the development, named the Cove at Loggerhead Marina, are scheduled to be open by mid 2013.
