St. Petersburg opened its first net zero energy, fully self-sustaining commercial office building.

Located in the Grand Central District at 1990 Central Ave., the building houses Sierra Club's headquarters and the shared creative space of Big Sea Design and Development and Roundhouse Creative Studio, according to a written statement.

Next door at 1950 Central Ave., an urgent care center broke ground in February and was also described as a "net-zero energy building.”

The developer of the building was All Florida Management.
