RETURN TO NEWS INDEX Homes sales tick down in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties Existing home sales fell again last month in Tampa Bay. Compared to May 2010, sales of previously occupied homes in Pinellas County slid from 786 to 754, a 4.1 percent drop, and Hillsborough County fell from 1,472 to 1,432, a 2.8 percent decline. Condo sales, however, jumped 15 percent in Pinellas and 17 percent in Hillsborough during the same period, according to figures from the Pinellas Realtor Organization and Greater Tampa Association of Realtors. The median price of existing home sales in Pinellas fell 16 percent from $138,800 to $117,000 since last May. The average price for Hillsborough dropped from $163,472 to $152,614 in the same period. GTAR does not provide the median price, meaning half the prices are less, half are more. Average prices are typically higher. |
