RETURN TO NEWS INDEX Royal Bank of Scotland seeks to foreclose on Tampa's "Beer Can" tower A major bank is suing the owner of downtown Tampa's cylindrical office tower at 400 North Ashley Drive - better known in this area as the "Beer Can" building, Rivergate Tower or the Sykes Enterprises tower. In its lawsuit, Royal Bank of Scotland states that the tower owner, ACP/Pinnacle or America's Capital Partners on Brickell Avenue in Miami, failed to pay its August mortgage payment on the tower and continues not to pay. The bank, which says it is owed $48.4 million, seeks to foreclose on the property. A spokesman at America's Capital Partners on Tuesday confirmed the company owns the Tampa tower but said they do not comment on lawsuits. Call center company Sykes Enterprises is a principal tenant of the tower and its name appears at the top of the building, but it does not own the property. In the Tampa area, America's Capital Partners also owns Westshore Corporate Center on North Westshore Boulevard, Breckenridge I-V & VIII on Breckenridge Parkway and, in Clearwater, Prestige Place I & II on McCormick Drive. |
