An all-suite boutique hotel is expected to replace a vacant Knight's Inn in Clearwater Beach by 2011.

Southwind Hospitality of Indian Shores has secured a loan to renovate the 1982-era property at 678 South Gulfview Blvd.

Construction is expected to begin in roughly six months with a budget of around $2 million.

The hotel will have 45 units that are about 600 square feet each and a path to the beach and pool at Southwind's Quality Beach Resort across the street at 655 South Gulfview Blvd.

Customers of the 94-unit Quality Beach Resort will have access to the new property's fitness center.

Southwind is still determining the hotel's name, said President Gilles Arditi. Its name will "capture the essence of Clearwater,” he said.

The property sold in December 2009 for about $3.8 million, Pinellas property records show.

Southwind provides property management, operations management, receivership services, and marketing to hotels and resorts.
