WINTER HAVEN - Legoland Florida doesn't open for more than year, but the public can get a sneak peek at plans for the state's newest theme park.

An open house is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Winter Haven Orange Dome, 150 Cypress Gardens Blvd.

Visitors will get a chance to see Lego models and concept drawings as well as build a Lego mural out of 35,000 blocks.

There also will be information about job opportunities at the theme park, which is scheduled to open in October 2011 at the former Cypress Gardens site. Merlin Entertainment, which announced plans for the park in January, estimated it would need 1,000 employees.

Legoland parks are open in Carlsbad, Calif.; Denmark; Great Britain; and Germany. Another is scheduled to open in Malaysia in 2012. Florida's will be the largest.

The parks are designed to appeal to families with children ages 2 to 12.
