Park Tower, Tampa Bay's oldest office high-rise, has landed a new tenant that plans to paste its name atop the 36th floor. Branch Banking & Trust Corp. is leasing 51,000 square feet of the tower at 400 N Tampa St. BB&T recently swallowed the assets of Colonial Bank, a 12-year tenant of the Tampa skyscraper built in 1973. Headquartered in Winston-Salem, N.C., BB&T reupped Colonial's lease for 10 years at a cost of $11 million. One hundred employees in the bank's commercial and residential lending operations will occupy all or part of the ground, 12th, 23rd, 24th and 25th floors. The building belongs to Sterling American Property Inc., whose chairman is Fred Wilpon, owner of the New York Mets baseball team.
