RETURN TO NEWS INDEX Pulte Homes restarts building in Davenport Pulte Homes resumed work on its La Cresta active-adult community in Davenport, now renamed Del Webb Orlando. The development, which originally opened in 2006 and then suspended operations last July to resolve issues with the land developer, expects to re-open early this summer, said a news release. Representatives from Pulte Homes were unavailable for further comment by press time. The project now has a revised construction plan that includes 830 homes and a $6 million amenity center that features indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center, walking trails and more. Homes are expected to have an average price of $210,000, and the economic impact of Pulte's investment is estimated at about $175 million. The Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based company's investment during the economic downturn shows that it has made a long-term commitment to the area, said Scott Campbell, president of Pulte's Central Florida division. "We truly appreciate the patience of the homeowners in this community as we worked hard to resolve the situation,†Campbell said. Del Webb Orlando is one of two active-adult communities Pulte Homes (NYSE: PHM) has near Orlando. The other is Bella Trae in ChampionsGate. Pulte Homes also has seven active communities in Central Florida. |
